IEP Goals for HFA/MERLD rising 4th grader

Anonymous
I need some suggestions too! My son is doing pretty well in his mainstreamed classroom, but he does struggle with executive functioning... especially as the tasks become more complicated. He also has a hard time expressing himself verbally... both in pragmatic speech and written assignments. Sadly, he only gets 30 min of speech for articulation. Sigh. They "don't do" pragmatic speech therapy because it is worked on in the classroom. Uh-huh. Any ideas for goals? Please share yours!!

What are his specific pragmatic difficulties at school? The goals should address those.

My child has goals that say things like "Will raise hand and not blurt out or interrupt the teacher during lessons" and "Will participate appropriately (ie. on-topic) during class room discussions." Just by the goals you can tell that he was having trouble interrupting the teacher and other students when they were talking and didn't want to talk about anything but his perservative interests.
