Best private schools in or very near Great Falls

Anonymous
We are looking at Oakton and Great Falls. But my husband likes GF much better. I know Oakton has Flint Hill, but that's about it (we are not looking for parochial.) Also, I want something in GF or right there, I don't want to have to drive every day in crazy traffic to get to a school. We would like a school K-12.

Thanks for your recommendations!

Thanks, I do have a boy and a girl, they will be going into 3rd and 1st grades. I would like to keep them in the same school. It just seems like Alexandria and DC have the most private schools. I don't want to live in either one, I like suburbs with lots of trees and a back yard.

Could you do McLean and Potomac School?

What about Potomac in Mclean?

Are there any private school is or near Great Falls? The closest may be Langley.

I think that is going to have to be it from my research. But my friend has her kids in the Potomac School and it is a drive in the mornings, she loves the schools but hates the drive.

Go public if you don't want the drive.

My son has special needs, he thrives in small class sizes, gets lost if otherwise. I know the public schools in GF are amazing, and I would love not to spend the money on privates, but that just won't work for us.

The closest are Flint Hill, Langley (PS-8th), Nysmith and Potomac. Lot of GF familes go to each of them. When you live in GF, you get used to the traffic. Its part of the deal with that location.

You might want to consider Bullis which, while on the other side of the River, has a substantial number of Great Falls students and offers bus transportation from Great Falls Village.

I've always heard that Flint Hill is good for kids with mild special needs, but I don't think its graduates populate the most competitive colleges, as a rule.

For special needs you should look at McLean School (in Potomac), St Andrews and Bullis in addition to the VA schools. Potomac and Nysmith are probably not good choices for special needs. Flint Hill may be your best bet in VA.

Langley or Potomac school. Both very good choices.

You should really check out maryland. It may be worth the drive over the bridge. Bullis, Norwood. Flint Hill is a good choice. Another school to check out is Green Hedges which is k-8.
