Should I take a 2 month old who hasn't had shots on airplane?

Is this just incredibly stupid during flu/cold season? I'd appreciate any advice--it would be my first trip with my daughter, and I'm already intimidated by the thought of doing it by myself, but to get her sick too would be the worst!!

Thanks in advance!!

I wouldn't, personally. Not during cold and flu season. Can you wait until the spring?

I have to say that I agree with PP. I almost always get sick after a long airplane ride during cold season. Two months old is pretty young -- they are still vulnerable at that age can get pretty sick with a bad cold or, worse, the flu. You will be away from both the comforts of home and your doctor if she does get sick. It could turn out totally fine, but if not, you will be kicking yourself around the block!

I tool my then 8 week old on a plane in November, but I wouldn't take him right now maybe that sounds silly but I feel like it is worse for cold/flu at this time a year than it was in November

no way - airplanes are the worst this time of year. wouldn't take on a plane until at least 12 weeks that is with shots. without shots i'd wait as long as you can. my son was sick after flying to calif and the trip was a complete nightmare. if you have to and if you are nursing that helps immunity

3 months+ would be much better, not because of shots but because fever in a child under 2-3 months is treated differently than fever in a child over 2-3 months. I would wait till 3 months just to be conservative, unless it was extremely important to fly right now (such as for a funeral).

We took our 3 week old on a plane - its not a big deal and the ped said it was fine. Just keep the baby in a bjorn and dont let people touch her.

I would say not unless you had to. If you can wait, I would wait. If not, just wash your hands a lot.

Well, your baby is not going to get vaccinated against colds or flu. So I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference that you are flying during cold and flu season.

The bigger issue is whether you want to fly with a two month old.

It is much much easier to fly with a 2 month old than when they get older. The baby will likely sleep the entire time. Jus try to nurse or feed or pacifier during landing and take-off to prevent the eas from popping. Babies are vey easy to travel with at that age.

What about any airborne germs? I don't let people touch me on a plane and I have gotten sick many times. There's a saying -- when you;re warned you're half saved. Head the advice of the majority on this issue.

I replied earlier that I wouldn't take a 2 month out on a flight during cold/flu season. I no very well that shots don't protect, but considered that irrelevant to the question.

I wouldn't take a baby that small on a germ airplane right now. I would take a 2 month old any other time of year, or take a toddler even during the winter. Small infant, this time of year - nope.

I went on a long flight with a 10 week old.
I was breast feeding.
The baby gets antibodies from breastmilk.
So whatever you are exposed to, you are protecting your baby
