i should keep my mouth shut about friend's choice for baby name...right?

Anonymous
My friend is 8 months pregnant and tested me all excited because they picked out a baby name for their little girl. It is a commonish, standard name so she said she wanted ti spice it up a bit. So basically she redid the spelling so a name like Kristin is now chrystyn (not the name but the same idea) it is awful. I should keep my mouth shut though right?

Do you even have to ask?

A friend of a friend decided to name her unborn child Yzabella. I SO wanted to send an anonymous message urging her not to. Of course I didn't though!

No.You have to tell her. Not telling her about a terrible dress or bad haircut is one thing. But the child is stuck with the name for 18 years.

she "tested you"? If so, then she's asking for your opinion, right? You could just say how great you think the classic spellings are of that name.

There's no use in this. That conversation can't go well.

My friend is naming her child something entirely absurd. I cannot believe she is doing it. But I won't say one single word...

Op here...yes that is what I meant. I have no intention of saying anything, but the name makes me cringe and I cant very well text another friend saying "omg did you hear what larla is naming her kid!?!" We do have a friend who doesnt keep her opinions to herself, so I'm sure if pregnant friend shares it with her...she will have a less than sugar coated response.

Unless it was a silly name and she didn't realize it i.e. Seymour Butts, you say NOTHING!

You should keep your mouth shut, but that doesn't mean you can't post it in this thread ---> http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/385557.page so the rest of us can enjoy the result.
