What Points Does Your Acupuncturist Use?

I wonder if the fertility acupuncturists all use generally the same points.

Mine puts needles in my - abdomen, feet, shin, hands, forehead, and scalp.

What points does your acu do?

pelvis area (3), ankle (1), big toe (1), side of the hand (1). Sometimes wrists and scalp.

It varies by time of month (no belly points after ovulation) and what other issues I'm dealing with.

Mine does top of feet, shin, hands *by thumb*, belly before ovulation and sometimes head. After ovulation adds the ears and drops the belly.

I am praying right now that this is working. I've beeing doing acupuncture since July, did 2nd IVF transfer in October that didn't work, started chinese herbs in November and right now I'm 2 days late! I am afraid to test until Monday. I am usually a 28 or 29 day cycle and tomorrrow is day 32. My cycles were more variable before the acupuncture so I'm praying this is it. It's been two long years of trying, the first year without help, last year 2 failed IVF's and 1 failed IUI.

As an acupuncturist who treats infertility I can say that there are a handful of points that are really good for everyone and there are some that are very specific to the root cause of the infertility. For example, some infertility is blood related while some is more "qi" in nature. Its complicated but if you have a well seasoned acupuncturist they should be able to treat your specific pattern.

Wow, it sounds like the same points my acu uses. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I've had two failed IVF's also and I understand how depressing it can be. I started acu in November after my 1st failed IVF. I have not done any chinese herbs because my acu says I can't do it simultaneously with IVF. Did you do it simultaneously? But it sounds like maybe this one might have taken. I wish you the best of luck. Let us know if it's successful!

I was 40 for the first IVF and 41 for the 2nd. I didn't start the chinese herbs until we decided no more IVF's. I'm at day 33 now but the test this morning said negative. It expired in Sept 08 and Im wondering if it was still good because it has been sitting in my bathroom drawer for 2 years (at least) waiting to be used. Will keep you informed, still praying for the best.
