Private Inauguration Parties in DC????

I just saw George Stephanapolous' (sp) wife on Oprah talking about all of the parties people are having in dc for the inauguration. Is she talking about private parties in peoples' homes? I don't know anyone having parties - or at least I am not invited to any parties. Feeling kind of out of it and not involved. Afraid to go down to the inauguration. What else can I do to feel like I am somewhat involved in this?

The balls are pretty awful. Lots of tourists, no food, crowded, and nowhere to sit. The private parties are much nicer, and smaller.

Actually, the balls tonight looked nicer than the Bush and Clinton ones.
