We have the opportunity to take a trip to LA with our two boys (6 & 9) next month. The airfare and hotel are covered. I've never been to Los Angeles (or CA for that matter). What would you do if you had 5 days to spend there with your family? |
Disneyland. My niece just took her kids. They've been to Disneyworld, but enjoyed Disneyland, too. She said the lines didn't seem as bad. |
+1 Disneyland--smaller, sweeter than FL.
However; LA is huge. What area of LA are you talking about? if you name the town, we can help you with what to do so you won't be driving more than you have to. |
Disneyland, universal studios, Mojave desert drive, Santa Monica beach and pier.
|
Hollywood/Griffith Observatory |
Venice beach, Santa Monica Pier, hikes in a canyon plus some good food. |
Tour a movie studio ( we did warner bros and it was a lot of fun!) rent bikes in Santa Monica and ride to Venice beach. Disneyland one day. Drive use coast through Malibu ( can be done on the day you do Santa Monica). Eat at meals diner in Hollywood and walk over to See all the celbrity footprints at the Chinese theater. Have fun!! |
Mels diner.. Sorry! |
Getty center, observatory, the pier, hiking to the Hollywood sign, tour bus (recommend tmz they are the funniest).
What part of LA that really does matter unless you love sitting in endless traffic |
Where exactly will your hotel be? (LA is enormous). |
Check the age requirement for the studio tours. In some cases, you may need to be 12.
Depending where you are staying, KidSpace in Pasadena is great. The Getty is supposed to have an excellent family room/exhibit. It was closed for renovation when we visited last year. The Annenberg Beach facility is great: There is a restaurant, rest rooms, a huge beach area and packing is about $12/day if I recall. |
Go to a trendy coffee shop or two for breakfast - Urth - Joans on 3rd I think it is? |
Disneyland, universal studios, Griffith Observatroy/Hollywood sign, Santa Monica beach and pier, Grauman's Chinese theater, Hollywood Walk of Stars, must do two days at Catalina Island -- I mean it this is essential, Malibu and eat at Malibu Seafood on Pacific Coast Hwy, Venice Beach |
LaBrea tar pits is fantastic. |
In addition to a lot of what is suggested above, we also attended a studio audience. |
