Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| First baby is around 2 -3 years old - does nayone have any ideas for useful or fun presents for this time around? |
| My favorite gift is matching items for first and second child. I usually give the Lands End personalized towel sets, but they are expensive. |
| What I want in a couple of months - frozen dinners so I don't have to cook. Or a cleaning service. |
|
a book or t-shirt for the older one about being a big bro or sis.
Offer to babysit the older one while she deals with the younger one (or vice versa) for a few hours I second the meals idea, and definitely would love my house cleaned professionally! |
| I buy the Lands End "Bunny Belly Blanket" and have it monogrammed for the baby and I send a complete precooked heat and serve meal from Omaha Steaks -- I get rave reviews and friends who have received both from me now send these gifts to their own friends and family. |

We've got number two coming after a 4 year gap. I'd love a couple of boxes of nursing pads, offers to take my son on playdates, meals, gift certificates towards new & attractive nursing bras (couldn't stand the sight of my old ones after 15 months of nursing), diapers. Also, if you know that the new baby will be the other gender, appropriate clothes!
And remember something small for the older child too--my son would be happy with a happy meal toy! |
Sorry to hijack, but PP - what are the precooked meals you get from Omaha Steaks? Any suggestions on the best ones? TIA! |

offer to babysit
oh, and a second idea would be ... offer to babysit |
| I am about to become a mom again with second child. What I would like are books. My first child has chewed, gnawed and ripped most of the books she enjoys so I would probably need to buy a bunch of board books for the second child. But really any gift is always welcome! |

I specifically look for anything that has as its directions "heat for x minutes at x temp and serve" -- The stuffed chicken breasts are great. The lasgna has gotten rave reviews. I did a fish and chips type thing for my friend and his wife who had number 4 and so had themselves and 3 others to feed (that was in family style meals). They have a section that is labeled "complete meals" or something like that -- usually a protein and a veg or starch. I also add in a dessert usually the preformed cookie dough drops -- lay out on a cookie sheet, oven for ten mins, fresh cookies.
Also if you google Omaha Steaks and coupons or discounts -- you can sometimes come up with free shipping or some other discount. |

GC to a day spa (massage, pedicure) and an offer to babysit when she goes.
GC to local take out places like Boston Market, pizza, local restaurants with good take out service, etc. My mom stocked my freezer with all of my favorite meals before she went home. It was the best! One of those full-body length maternity pillows that go between your legs that I was too cheap to buy the first time around but was really wishing I had by the 8th month. The second time I want it! |
