Cooking for one

When you don't have to cook for anyone else, do you cook something special for yourself (maybe something nobody else in the family likes?) Do you just get takeout?

When I work from home, I usually make a huge salad with a poached egg for lunch, but I'd love any creative ideas for good meals to treat myself.

I like to cook vegetables that my kids don't like when I can. So I'll make spinach with beans, kale salad, eggplant sauce on pasta, potato and pepper stir-fry, etc.

Depends. Sometimes I get my favorite takeout, sometimes I make a huge bowl of my favorite pasta. Sometimes I have a personal picnic--an assortment of cheese, salami, and fruit.

These days it's relatively easy to buy one sealed portion of chicken or fish which is nice. When I cooked for just me, I like to cook b/c it was too expensive to do take out and I would get bored eating the same thing.

I make brussels sprouts, thai eggplant, and stir fried cabbage when I'm eating alone. DH and the kids hate it.
