Hi Jeff. Why does the Recent Topics forum have a finite number of posts? Why can't it just keep scrolling down in the order of views for page upon page? |
Because then they are no longer recent. |
Would it be possible to make the page as long as the previous 24 hours? I often go back to look for posts, but forget which forum they were in. |
The way the recent topics page is programmed, it has a fixed length. Some time ago, I lengthened it quite a bit. If you login, there is another recent posts link that shows threads that have been updated since you last logged in. However, that has been problematic since I switched to a cluster of servers and doesn't quite work right. Because so few people login, fixing it has been a low priority (hence, it has been that way for a year). But, if more people logged in and bugged me about it, I might be incentivized to fix it.

Thanks, Jeff. Any way it can be lengthened by a few pages? (I don't always remember the threads I have been posting in until I see them, so I don't search for them in the appropriate forums.) |
The Recent Topics page is not paginated. I can look into paginating it, but I've never explored how the pagination of other sections works. So, I'll have to figure that out first. Or, I could look into a user-configurable way to set the page length. For instance, a drop down menu that would allow users to lengthen or shorten it (by that, I mean increase or decrease the number of "recent' topics listed). |
OK, thanks! |
