Consumers checkbook -cheaper alternative?

I understand this is better than Angie's list but does it really save you effort/time/money?

I don't know if it's better, really, just different. I had both Consumers Checkbook and Angie's List at the same time and was surprised to see the number of companies that were on only one of the lists.

I like it better than reccs from neighbors, or Angie's List. YMMV.

Been using CC for years and years. Their methods are impeccable. Hands down.

Yep. I was an Angie's List member for a while, but I trust CC a lot more, so I cancelled Angie's List.

I'm also a fan of CC.

My electrician told me that he could pay a fee to Angie's list to manipulate where/how his company name appears. It seems less credible the cc...

My handyman also explained how you can drive your ratings up on Angie's List. I had both while we were renovating, but stuck with only CC.
