Funeral attire question

Anonymous
I have a funeral to go to this week- I have a dress (about knee length, a little longer) and shoes that will do nicely, but I was wondering if I need to wear hose or somehow cover my legs? For some reason I am thinking that bare legs are inappropriate- is there anyone that could weigh in?

How old is the deceased? I know that sounds weird, but I've found that people dress differently depending on the age.

I have recently been to 6 funerals.

When the deceased was older (think 50s up) people tended to be more conservative.

Funeral for someone in their 20s was much more "stylish" vs conservative.

It is fine to not wear hose at a funeral in the summer. I have lost 3 loved ones in the past year, all varying in age (child, 30s, 50+) and at the funerals there were family in all age ranges up to 90. Some wore hose, some did not. FYI these were all summer month passings as well.

I'm sorry for your loss OP.

I don't think you ever go wrong being more conservative or respectful at a funeral.

I don't think people are going to notice your legs that much.

It is fine to go without hose. Good skin-colored hose wouldn't be visible unless someone was pretty close to your legs anyhow, and they should have better things to do at a funeral than examine your legs.

I don't think it matters. Do whatever will make your feet most comfortable.
