I am ordering trays for my twins' birthday - turkey pita sandwiches, cut-up fruit platter and a sushi platter (cucumber/avocado rolls). Where should I order? Constraints are that they need to be available before 10AM for Saturday pick-up as our party starts at 10:30AM. I'm not sure about quality if picking up on a Friday.
Giant? Harris Teeter? We are in Rockville. Thank you!! |
| Any of the grocery stores will do this for you. But I think you're fooling yourself if you think that they are going to make your platter on Sat morning for a 10am pick up. They will make it on Friday and put it in the fridge for your next day pick up. |
We saw our Safeway assembling our sandwich tray when we did a 9:30am pickup for our DD's birthday party (they were in the midst of assembling when we got there). I'm pretty sure no one would make sushi at night and then attempt to give it to you in the morning. I know Safeway has all of these options. The sandwich tray was good. Get your cake there too and you are done for the morning! |
| I do prefer they be made that morning, but if not, we will survive. We don't have a big enough fridge to accommodate all three trays so I can't pick up Friday anyway. |
| Whole foods? Not in md, so unfamiliar with Rockville |
| Wegmans or Costco |
| Wegmans is great it's a 15 minute drive to Germantown that early on Saturday order and pay online |
| Taylor Gourmet |
| I've gotten sushi platters from Whole Foods several times and they are always good. |
| I would never feed guests prepared food from giant or safeway. Especially not sushi! Just go to a real sushi restaurant and order a catering platter at areound 9pm. I'm in va and order catering platters of sushi last second all the time. |
| Thanks PPs. I would usually order sushi platters from a restaurant but as we are only doing avocado and cucumber rolls, I was hoping to go a less expensive route. |
I think if you go veg, it will be less expensive anyway. I love the platters from Passion Fin. There is one in Bethesda. I order them all the time last second when we have guests. As a matter of fact, I order them from carryout all the time. It is cheaper for our family of 4 to get the small platter, rather than ordering a la carte. I know Wegmans does these. If you get it Friday night, just open the top and put plastic wrap on top of the rolls to protect them from the air. |
