DPR Little Explorers - which rec centers?

Anonymous
My older son did Little Explorers at Turtle Park a few years ago and it was pretty good. We live EotP and would like to consider Little Explorers for our youngest at a nearby rec center (Emery, Petworth, Takoma) or possibly Lafayette or Chevy Chase. I've dealt with DPR long enough to know that the quality of the programs can vary pretty significantly depending largely on the leadership at the rec center. Does anyone have any insight about which rec centers have the most engaged, rock star leaders? i.e.: they enjoy children, they like their jobs, they run a tight ship, they challenge their staffs to do a good job (and not just txt with their friends all day long)? Yes, I know that all the Little Explorers programs are full, but I've had success in the past with getting in off the waitlist. Anyway, would love to hear any first hand knowledge about the best DPR programs. Thanks.

Can you tell me how you got on and then off the waitlist? Thank you.

P.S. I liked the program at Chevy Chase Rec center the best.

the one time we were able to get in off the waitlist we did so by going directly to the rec center. So perhaps it's a squeaky wheel situation or perhaps not. I did not ask about the details, I was just grateful for the spot.

We did Takoma a few times when DD was younger and she enjoyed it. Activities and swimming indoors every day.

I would also love to hear feedback on which DPR centers have good reputations for Little Explorers. Any advise?

We did Chevy Chase Rec Center last year and 2 of the teachers barely acknowledged my child each day. They were on their phones 24/7 and were also quite grumpy.
The 3rd teacher was okay. I would not return.
