Make your own stir fry (e.g. BD's Mongolian BBQ)

DC has requested this for his birthday dinner, but now that the one in Bethesda is closed i'm at a loss. Seems like there are some in VA (Genghis Grill), but does anyone know any in MoCo?

No-- my house is very sad about this. There used to be one in DC Chinatown but I don't know if it's still there.

Tony Cheng's... it's still there.

Does Tony Cheng's have the salad-bar type set up, where you pick what you want & your sauces and they grill it for you?

There is also Big Bowl in Reston. Are there any other locations?

I thought you were going to ask how to do it at home. I used to work at BD's when I was in college. All the sauces are easy to make - most are soy based with some canola and sesame oil, some spices, and other flavoring like honey, brown sugar, fish sauce, etc. and you can look up similar recipes to modify as you want at home.

How to get that "everything tastes oddly the same" taste, I am not sure. But getting a wok super hot and then burning some sugary sauce in it as you cook should make it taste like BDs.

For MoCo, I would suggest a Benihana. It's entertaining and they make your food in front of you:

There's also Shophouse which is basically an Asian version of Chipotle:
