We recently moved from DC back to the NY metro area. Going to a first communion party this afternoon with dh and our two kids. The mom is my sister's BFF. I'm not sure how much to give the girl for a gift. I don't want to give too little, but I don't want to accidentally overdo it and look crazy either. Anyone happen to know what the standard gift amount might be in this situation?
$25-$50 is perfect.
Are you giving cash? No more than $50.
I always give $75 -$100 (NY native) I mean, c'mon, it is for their college fund (or whatever)
Thanks, all. I ended up doing $150 cash. I'd rather err on the side of too much than too little. It was a very nice lunch with an open bar, so I'm feeling okay with that number.
Overdid it and look crazy. Sorry. Top cap even for NY would have been $100.
Is 25-50 still appropriate for a 2nd cousin?
I think you're fine, particularly for NY, attending with a family of 4. I think I gave $100 last year, in a similar scenario.

No unless you are in the South Bronx or something. |
