| We have encountered an odd problem as we baby-proof our home. We would like to put up a babygate in a doorway that, as it turns out, has a metal doorframe. I know this sounds strange, and we never noticed this before. It looks like wood. At any rate, when we went to mount the gate we discovered the problem. What can we do? Are there baby gates that mount onto metal? |

If the gate you want to install is at the top of a stairwell, this solution can't be used, but we use a tension mounted gate since we live in a condo and want to sell it at some point so didn't want to put lots of holes in the door frame. The gate we use is a Kidco gate that we got at Buy Buy Baby. See http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=112232&RN=7072&. We have had no problems and it was easy to install. Hope this is helpful.

I 2nd the PP's suggestion. That gate is really handy.
It's a little complicated to open on your first try. you have to push a button to lift the lever at the top, and then you lift the 'door' of the date to open it. to close, you have to lift the door again to put it in place, and then you push down the lever. |
| I'd use a power drill, personally, but I know drilling through metal is a little tricky. |
