| If you didn't know that it was a particular celebrity doing the voice over, could you even tell? I can't! Can you? Does it make the movie better for you? Seems like many actors get famous based on their looks and their voices aren't particularly interesting separate from their appearance. |
| Well, I like Julianna Margulies' voice, so I don't mind her voice overs. But I can tell you I'm sick to death of hearing Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen doing that exaggerated, annoying voice overs. Bowen is hawking for Olive Garden--please like she even eats! |
| I can pick out the voices in Sophia the First - Wayne Brady (gotta love that Blue Ribbon Bunny), Tim Gunn, the daughter from Modern Family, also Eric Stonestreet was a horse on that show once. |
|
I love this game! It's such an exciting challenge for me to pick out celeb voices during an otherwise routinely annoying as hell kids' show.
Doc McStuffins has some to pull out as well. Oy, I've been watching kid programming too long. |
| The only ones I've noticed are Tim Gunn in Sophia and Adele from Grey's Anatomy in Doc McStuffins. They both have pretty irritating voices to my ears though. |
| Mark Hamill is an excellent Joker (Batman). |
| I recognize the voices, but I have a good memory for voices. I recognize people I know by their voices more easily than by their face. |
| I figured Tim Gunn but that's about it. I didn't recognize any of the actors in the "Despicable me", for example. |
|
Only if it is a recognizable voice. Like Aladdin sounds like every guy, and I haven't seen frozen but Kristen Bell's voice isn't particularly unique (though I love me some Veronica Mars).
It really has to be a unique voice. Otherwise I think the studios are doing it for the name, or the actors themselves are doing it for vanity or because they have kids. It has no impact on the rest of us. |
| Often I can. And even if not, a good actor with a good voice can bring a lot to the character. |
| I can usually tell a screen actor's voice from a regular cartoon-only actor right away. The problem is figuring out who it is exactly. |
| I love that in the Legos movie green lantern and superman are voiced by Channing Tatum and Jonah hill. I recognized the two right away and I think adults are supposed to. |
| I generally spend half of an animated movie driving myself crazy trying to put an actor's name with a voice that I recognize. Zach Braff! No, that guy from SNL! |
Me too! I often watch with my phone in hand so I can look up the names immediately so as not to drive myself crazy. That is, if I'm alone. My husband can always tell who it is, usually before I even realize it's a celebrity voice. There are a lot of celebrities doing tv commercial voice-overs too. |

I am sure Tim Allen's voice as Buzz Lightyear and Tom Hank's as Woody in Toy Story all those years back was a no-brainer for people back then.
And Eddie Murphy as the donkey in Shrek. Another no-brainer. Lol. |
