Just finishing Brain on Fire, which I never would have picked if it weren't for my book club, and frankly, it's really good. Interesting and quick.

State of Wonder by Ann Patchett was really good. It's a good compromise between throwaway beach book and literary novel.

I wouldn't call him the "fun beach read" kind of author! I would go for something by David Sedaris.

The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Flacks is not my idea of a "fun, beach read." To each their own!

Anything by Michael Lewis.
They're all intelligent, they're all funny, and they're all very quick reads. The Big Short was a fun weekend.

Yes, and liked her other book (What Alice Forgot) even more.

I also liked Alluspn Winn Scotch's books. Similar balance between quick read and thought-provoking.
