Contrary to the recent thread on need blind, I’ve heard that colleges, especially private schools, are paying more attention to a student's ability to pay tuition and other associated fees during the admission process. Can anyone confirm?

Someone posted the list of need blind v need aware colleges on the other thread. That should help you for the specific colleges you are looking at. Generalizations aren't too meaningful.

I work for a non-profit that helps low-income high school students go to college. We've heard from a few admissions officers that due to declining enrollment trends, they need to take more full pays to make their numbers (leaving fewer spots for students like ours with 0EFCs). Schools we have heard this info from tend to be smaller, moderately selective colleges.
