Yard slopes towards house, no water issues because of proper patio

For those that are interested in learning how a house with a yard sloped towards it fares here is our situation.

Built about 3 years a go, installed a patio on a concrete pad with a gentle slope away from the house.

0 Water issues, the water was like a river at the end of the patio but flowed away from the house around to the planned area on the side.

If you are concerned about a sloped backyard, or any backyard, I highly recommend installing a concrete poured patio that slopes away from the house. If concrete isn't your thing you can have pavers or flagstone installed on top of it (we did).

Who did you use? We need similar work done and haven't been impressed with the solutions and cost. Thanks

We have a hill that slopes to a flat back yard and then runs off to the side. IT was a swamp in the backyard last night, but no basement flooding AT ALL. Just a river running by the side of the house. I feel rather fortunate because we got a TON of rain last night.

What can you tell us about this process -- did you wait for a dry time to install the patio, how much does it cost, etc?
I need a solution to roof runoff from the neighbor's rowhouse seeping into my basement.
The neighbors are not very interested in improving their gutter system (which is failing).
