For those that are interested in learning how a house with a yard sloped towards it fares here is our situation.
Built about 3 years a go, installed a patio on a concrete pad with a gentle slope away from the house. 0 Water issues, the water was like a river at the end of the patio but flowed away from the house around to the planned area on the side. If you are concerned about a sloped backyard, or any backyard, I highly recommend installing a concrete poured patio that slopes away from the house. If concrete isn't your thing you can have pavers or flagstone installed on top of it (we did). |
| Who did you use? We need similar work done and haven't been impressed with the solutions and cost. Thanks |
| We have a hill that slopes to a flat back yard and then runs off to the side. IT was a swamp in the backyard last night, but no basement flooding AT ALL. Just a river running by the side of the house. I feel rather fortunate because we got a TON of rain last night. |

What can you tell us about this process -- did you wait for a dry time to install the patio, how much does it cost, etc?
I need a solution to roof runoff from the neighbor's rowhouse seeping into my basement. The neighbors are not very interested in improving their gutter system (which is failing). |
