Why hasn't sports practice been cancelled?

Assuming every outdoor practice this afternoon will be cancelled, right? Wondering why a coach wouldn't just look out the window and send the email. We'd have to swim there. Practice is on turf, but still...

My DH sent one to all of our Kindergartner players last night.

FWIW, my older one actually plays in shit like this on turf. They only cancel when there is lightning. I have seen some lightning today--so maybe those will even be cancelled. However, like the outdoor pools, they won't cancel turf until you arrive at the field.

Our high school teams usually practice inside on days like this. My DCs club soccer team practices on turf as long as there is no thunder and lightning. Practice usually doesn't get called off until at most an hour before when it's clearer what the thunderstorm pattern is.

Please, if your kid plays on turf, espoecially lacrosse where rain doesnt effect the ball, all practices are alwasy on unless there is lightening.

The one time I saw coaches letting kids practice lax when it was lightening out I raised holy hell. A lacrosse stick is a damn lightening rod right to your kid. Rain, eh, whatever.

I told my kids to wear boots and not cleats. Suck it up.

No weather cancellations when we were kids. This is what's wrong with the world. They should walk to practice too. And make their own dinner.

Um, have you seen the forecast? There are plenty of quasi-flooded streets where I am. Getting to and from the field is as much of a problem. Canceling on a day like this makes sense.

And there's thunder now. It's not too difficult to look at the weather radar patterns, listen to traffic reports and made a call. My kids hs team practiced indoors and after hearing that club team cancelled. people have to have some common sense.

My kid has a band performance tonight I hope they cancel. The roads are a mess.

If you don't want to go, well, don't go.

Why ask to have it cancelled when others might want to attend? It's voluntary, right?

Of course, if there's lightning they should go inside if that's an option (cancel if inside is not an option)

If it's so bad, ask the coach yourself instead of moaning to an anonymous forum. The coach is willing to practice - a practice you paid for - and you are complaining? What a nightmare mom you are.

FYI, my kid loves practice in the rain. He went and had a great time.
