Duke University is taking the lead in discouraging the use of offensive language on campus

This seems to be a good step toward creating an open no-judgmental academic environment, but they need to go further and (and noted) elicit a pledge from those advocating the banning of a certain word or phrase to promise in return to "never hinder a speech by a political figure with whose political philosophy I disagree."

Maybe the campaign should start right here at DCUM. Some of the worse language I've seen is when a poster is called out and the so-called offended party lets out a barrage of profanity so despicable people stop posting.

People forget a lot of high school students read these threads and when you call another woman the 'C' word (as was done in the DD Experienced Racism in the Classroom thread...moderator removed it), why should any teen listen to any adult when it appears that arguing your point with obscenities is not only reasonable, it's justified even under the cloak of anonymity?
