Keep existing floors for kitchen reno?

| Our kitchen is dated but we love the floors, we want to do a remodel and add more cabinets and an island. Will we be able to keep our existing floors? I'm hoping this would help save on costs! |

| It would only work if the new cabinets/appliances covered where everything else used to be, obviously. And construction can wreak havoc on floors. But they can be carefully covered, too, so if the former isn't an issue, why not? |

| Yes, we'd keep the existing layout and just be adding additional items.... We also want to refinish them and stain them a darker color so that is something we could do afterwards. |
