Can someone pls give the nitty gritty details of bikini line laser hair removal?

I would like to have this done so all of the hair I can't stand is gone forever but not sure if I could withstand the embarrassment of having this done (I've only ever waxed myself). Can someone please let me know the nitty gritty details of how it is done, what you are wearing, where they will take off the hair, how painful it is and who you went to?

Thanks!

I went to a medspa in DuPont. I paid for 6 treatments upfront and never did anymore after that but honestly I probably need another 4-6 more treatments to get the job completely done. I have a baby now and didn't want to do it while pregnant and haven't had the chance to do it since having my son.

The treatments start off light and get stronger each visit. By he end it was really painful- and I am used to Brazilian bikini waxes.

You wear disposable underwear or your own underwear and they pull it to the side.

You can shave but not was between treatments.

I finally decided to go for it. I bought a groupon for 6 at DC derm docs (downtown). I've only done one so far but it was super fast (<10 min) and not that painful. You have to do them 8 wks apart I think. I wore my own underwear & the tech pulled to the side. PP is right, you can only shave (not wax) between treatments & you can't wax too close to the initial lasering. So far, so good in my experience!

This is probably a weird question but I am curious... When you've only had a few treatments is there just less hair? Is it finer?

I did the full on Brazilian laser hair removal. I did 2 groupons, each for 6 sessions. Embarrassment wasn't really an issue - yes, I was self conscious, but it was with a female tech and she does these alllll the time. If you are just going to get a bikini line, you could probably wear the paper underwear or even a pair of very skimpy underwear during the session.

Different lasers will give you different results. The first place I went, I probably ended up with about a 25% hair reduction after 6 treatments, but overall the hair was thinner/finer. That laser didn't hurt as much, but did feel more like rubber bands snapping against my skin.

The second place I went had a different kind of laser - I don't remember the name, but it is the kind that shoots a puff of air at you as it zaps you. I found it to be quite a bit more painful, but MUCH more effective. Towards the final treatment, it was quite unpleasant.

I'd say about 95% of the hair is gone. What does grow is very light and fine, and can be removed with a tweezer easily.
