I have no medical knowledge to back this up but that does not sound normal to me at all. I would make an appointment tomorrow.

No medical knowledge either, but this does not sound normal or healthy to me either.

Could be kidney stones or something kidney-related.

Go to the Dr. tomorrow.

This is not normal. You must see a doc ASAP.

OP here. For DD in another city. Told her to see doctor, but convinced she'll be told it's just anxiety and it'll be waste of time. Says she feels ok, not great. Have looked on internet for possibility that could move her to go in but coming up empty.

RN here. This is not normal and could be indicative of some pretty serious conditions. Why would a doctor tell her it is just anxiety? I work in an ER and if someone came in saying they urinate every other day, the would be taken very seriously and sent for several tests.

Forward this thread to her, OP.

I'm sorry OP, but where are you looking that you come up empty with possible causes that should get her to go to the hospital? Here ya go:
http://www.healthline.com/symptom/decreased-urine-output

50% of those possible causes are listed as medical emergencies

http://www.myvmc.com/symptoms/oliguria-decreased-urine-production/

Some more information

Why do you say that the doctor would just say she has anxiety? Seriously both of you are probably underplaying it and you sound like you're actin glike it is all in your daughter's head. This is a SERIOUS medical condition.

OP. Thanks for responses.

Saw one of those sites and thought there'd be other, more dire symptoms for more serious conditions. Ruled out dehydration as she says she drinks at least 2 bottles vitamin water a day. Obstruction looked mostly male. Perhaps subclinical kidney inflammation? Has had kidney infection in the past.

Has had a couple of things in past where doctor said just anxiety so she is wary. I can't find any reference to this symptom and anxiety.

OP. Please reread your post.

1. Stop trying to diagnose her
2. She drinks 2 bottles of water a day (not a lot depending on what other activities she does) and she goes EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS.

THAT IS NOT NORMAL!!!!! Jesus. Tell her that this is not normal and she needs to see a doctor ASAP. My friend had zero serious symptoms until she wound up in the hospital with septic shock. She felt a little "off" and then she collapsed. Her family flew in because the doctors didn't think she'd pull through. Thankfully she did. STOP trying to diagnose your daughter based off on what she's saying vs what you read online.

So she' drinking 40 oz of liquid a day and not going every day? OP, she has seriously decreased urine output. I mean it sounds like it is dangerously decreased. She could be in the beginning stages of renal failure.

OP: Thanks for responses--they are having the desired effect of spurring me into action. Looking on line just to see if there was something that might get her attention. I put a call into the insurance nurse's line. They want to talk to her so am trying to coordinate.

Does she just not feel the urge to go, or she is unable to go when she tries?
Anonymous
Doesn't feel the urge. A couple of times she's tried without urge but can't make a go of it.
Anonymous
She needs prompt medical attention.
Could be life-threatening if left untreated.
Whatever condition is causing this will not go away without medical treatment.
