What's this about longer hours for DCPS middle school?

I think it was buried in a recent e-mail from the Chancellor. Does anyone know if it applies to all middle schools or what the hours will be? Thanks.

Every DCPS MS was given $100k for "extended learning"...which many intepret as extended day. Up to schools to plan and implement use of funds.

My understanding is that all middle schools were offered $100k to implement a longer school day but only only a few actually took DCPS up on the offer.

I read somewhere that the teachers had to vote on extending the day because of union contract issues.
