| DD has a low WL number and was told that they only offered up 2 lottery spaces in round 1, both to siblings, as they knew of no students leaving at the time-does anyone know of anyone NOT returning for 6th next year? Like everyone out there, the wait is KILLING me, and so I thought I would torture myself with conjecture and speculation on DCUM, even though it won't hang the results or sleeplessness. |
| doubt it |

I called WL about 6th grade. I was told they initially were going to fill 4 slots for incoming 6th, but had 6 siblings apply in the lottery. So, they took all 6 siblings.
If that's true, the class size is now 2 over target. Also, recall that accepted students in other grade levels may have siblings that will go to the top of the 6th grade wait list, moving you down. |

We are also waiting on Latin 6th.
Op what is your backup plan? We will stay in our not perfect private. |
| We are at another great charter that is not a good fit emotionally for DD, so at this point, we have no backup. |
If NOT staying at the place that is a bad fit emotionally, you need to come up with a back-up plan. |
| Yes, pp, thank you we know that-like I wrote, at THIS PoINT we don't have one. We have to see how things go in various areas of our lives before we have one. |
| 10:03, who told you they accepted 6 siblings for 6th? They did NOT accept that many sibs for 6th, maybe for 6th-8th, but not 6th. |
I was told that by the Latin head of admissions, initials CW. A conversation mid-April. She said they took 5th: 38 siblings, 52 non-siblings 6th: 6 siblings 7th: 0 8th: 2 siblings 9th (last year of admission): ~ 10 (I didn't get the sibling status) CW also told me that Latin will not be publicly posting the WL. So, how do you know that Latin did NOT accept that many sibs for 6th? Who told you and when? |
| 12:09 here-CW told me about the 2 siblings on the 9th. Latin was on break mid April and she was out of town. |
| Girls, girls...you're both pretty. |
| CW should stay clear of crazy parents who involve themselves too much in the enrollment processes. |
| Nothing crazy about this-and DCUM's anonymous forums know how to inspire crazy.. |
Seems like we both talked with the same source, one of us heard 2 siblings to 6th, the other heard 6 siblings to 6th. Don't know that the actual number matters that much. The conclusion for a non-sibling family trying to get into Latin for 6th is about the same, very very slim chance, in fact, at this point for 2014-15, zero non-sibling students seem to have been admitted to 6th grade. |

last year the list went into the 20's for 6th.
