| We need to replace our range and I remember reading somewhere that black is the new steel as it's easier to clean, doesn't scratch up and doesn't rust. I must say, I don't mind the look of it either. However, the rest of our appliances are currently stainless steel and we'll probably be selling our place in a few years. If you had to do it all over again -- black or stainless steel? |
|
Our current house has all black appliances and I think they are easier to keep clean than stainless. But since your current stuff is stainless, I would go with that.
Or replace all of them.

Stainless steel.
Recently I've found a great way to clean my stainless steel- use lemon oil! It makes the finish perfect and not streaky. I've never had any rust... |
| Stainless since everything else in your kitchen is already stainless. |
| Stainless |
| Matching |
| Can't you do a brushed stainless so the fingerprints and streaks don't show up? That's what our dishwasher is. |
| Ugh, stainless -- the puke green enamel of the future. |
| Black sucks -- every speck of dust shows. |
| It all needs to match |
Until commercial kitchens find a better material stainless is here permanently. |
| It all does not need to match, but go with stainless on the range since that is easiest to clean. The fridge and dishwasher stainless--those are the nightmares. |
| I think the path of least resistance is just stainless to match. Though, if you really want black, something like the new GE artistry line with stainless handles and accents might work well to coordinate with it. |
Huh, my parents had stainless appliances in their kitchen back in the '60s and it doesn't seem to have gone out of style yet. |
Stainless steel is terribly out of fashion right now. People really don't like it. |
