restaurant recommendation in foggy bottom or "east" georgetown --M street area

Anonymous
I have a work even on Friday and was going to take my out-of-town visitors to my favorite Lavandou in Cleveland Park only to find out to my horror that it closed back in January-- such a loss! Anyway, now I am stuck and even though I work in the foggy bottom area I never go out there. Any suggestions for a nice but not super expensive restaurant? Founding Farmers is all booked up.

Why not go to palena?

Meiwah is good Chinese food. Urbana is cool. Or Firefly.

Blue Duck Tavern? Depends on what your idea of "expensive" is. But that place is good.

I like Ezme on P St. for middle eastern. If it is in your price range, Blue Duck tavern at Hyatt is wonderful. You may be able to get into Rasika West End on a week night.

If you want to go to CP, I like Ripple. I lived in CP for 3 years and just moved last month. I never thought Lavandou was all that special. It was fine, just normal, fairly priced French food, but nothing that knocked my socks off. If I had to pick between Lavandou and Bistro Du Coin, I always pick Bistro.

OP here-- thank you all for these great recommendations! Problem is, of course, it's virtually impossible to make a reservation on Friday night (who knew? I guess that tells something about my lifestyle, haha!) Ripple is out, so is Blue Duck, Reservation made at Firefly and Urbana-- between these two do you have a preference? Which one is quieter?

Seriously, so now there's no way you could go to both, but you've blocked someone else from making a reservation?

OP should be tarred and feathered because between 10:30pm on a Monday and 3am on a Tuesday, hundreds of people across the DC area are trying to get a reservation at one of these 2 restaurants. The nerve of this poster to block anyone from getting a reservation!!!

Still love Vidalia and Grillfish in that area. Does Leopold's Kafe and Konditrei serve dinner? You could also look into Peacock Café or just go for the bar menu at the Four Seasons. RIS is delicious. Go on opentable and find out what's available.

Rasika at 22nd and M! Amazing Indian food and bright, airy dining room.

Cafe La Ruche.

Between Urbana and Firefly, both are pretty quiet. Firefly is tiny. Urbana's pretty big, underground, attached to a hotel but not hotel-y. Urbana's Italian; Firefly modern American. Both are good.
(Come to think of it, Firefly is in a hotel too, but it's one of those tiny boutique hotels with like 3 rooms. You'd never know it's a hotel unless you were staying there.)

I work in Georgetown. The restaurants my bosses generally like to take clients to in the area are:

Fiola Mare (right by Farmers Fishers Bakers)
Rasika
Bourbon Steak
Cafe La Ruche
