| Has anyone done this or seen it in person? We're buying a house that has carpeting EVERYWHERE and we'd like to put in some hardwoods, but we're on a budget. I am very handy and we're not in a huge rush, so thinking of doing this to save a little money. Wondering what the end result is like in person. Anyone? This is what I'm asking about: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/219691288044984026/ |
Is it durable though. Heavy furniture, impact from drops etc? |

interesting

Looks about the same as poured concrete driveways that are colored and textured to look like brick. |
I'm not sure about that. That's concrete disguised as brick; this is actual wood, just a different type quality/type of wood than what is normally used for flooring, but ripped, sanded and stained to be indistinguishable. |
| Little Green Notebook did this. |
Yes. Not crazy about the whitewash look, but here it is: http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2014/03/diy-wide-plank-floors-made-from-plywood.html But has anyone seen it in person or done it themself? |
| Seems like a lot of work. Have you already priced out cheap hardwood or laminate floors? |
| rather than try to make plywood look like something it isn't, why not paint the floors and polyurethane them. You could do it yourself. |
| Plywood is not meant to be flooring. It's not going to last. |
Isn't engineered flooring just plywood with a veneer? Sure, the veneer is hardwood, but besides that, it doesn't seem that different. |
