| In applying to colleges --- is there any geographical advantage in applying from a PG County public school? |
| Just like almost anything else, there *might* be. |
|
It depends who you ask.
MCPS parents whose kids didn't get into top colleges will say "yes", though. Well, more accurately, they will tell you about all those poor black kids stealing their snowflake's spot. |
| If you are Black, you will have an advantage. |
More of an advantage than a black student attending a high school in Montgomery County? |
| PG county kids might have an edge if they are black. However, I can tell you that many PG county kids will not be well prepared for college. |
+1000 Black people compete within themselves. It's not the PG county black kids who are going to be getting in... |
| OP here -- I was thinking that perhaps there wouldn't be as many kids from my child's high school all applying to the same 20 colleges. |
I do think there's an advantage to that, especially if your child is one of the better students in his class, and if he/she's applying to an in-state university. |
