I'm looking for an outdoor dining table with umbrella and chairs. I don't want to have to cover it or restain it every year. Is our best bet glass and aluminum? Can you buy wood furniture treated so that it can stand up to the elements?
I have a glass and aluminum umbrella set from Sears that has lasted over a dozen years with very little maintenance.
Wood requires lots of attention, which is largely incongruent with "low maintenance". You should get an aluminum set with covers, should last you 10 years.
Plastic resin that looks and feels like wood
I have aluminum that is heavy and looks like wrought iron - it looks great. I stow the umbrella and the cushions over the cold months and pull them back out before summer. Found the furniture on Overstock.com and the cushions and umbrella at Target. (and Target.com)
