why do european, especially italian, kids curse a lot?

Anonymous
I live in Italy and hear that kids are allowed to swear. I have heard a lot kids saying "cazzo" (penis) and stronzo (asshole) in interaction with adults and mothers using profanity to their children.

It is normal here, that kids can do things reserved for adults? In Germany it is also common ("Scheiss=shit), the kids use it also at school.

Simple- just tie their hands together and they won't be able to talk at all.

Is being a lawyer still respected over there? Have read that other countries have a glut of lawyers and because it seems like anyone could be one there isn't as much respect for them. Also, lawyers swear a lot. Not sure about teachers though. Aren't they well respected there?

No

Italians (I am one.) are not prudes. And they don't baby their kids the way Americans do.

They're words, people. I learned all my curse words from my nonna (maternal side). She was fucking hysterical!

As an Italian, with family both here and in Italy- this made my day. Too funny.

Yeeeeeeah.

And I thought the OP's statement was racist behavior.

OP, why don't you (dare) post on an Italian message board and save us all your prejudices? Maybe you would prefer to work for a penny pinching American that can barely afford your services?

There is an American saying: Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Also, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

You sound rather naive. Look up those sayings, and learn to live by them.

Wow. Just wow.

Che cazzo vuoi?

literal translation -Which dick do you want? but really meaning - What the fuck do you want?

again, one of my first words . . . cazzo!

Cazzo is a very vulgar way of referring to penis.

Anyhow, I am Italian (born in the 80's) and to this day I can't swear in Italian because it was never never OK to do that in my house. Even things like "stupid" were forbidden and considered poor taste.

I have friends back home and their kids do not swear at all.
BUT I am sure some kids do. I am thinking it might be more tolerated if boys do it rather than girls....In any case, I don't think it is an "Italian" thing. I think it is a parenting thing.

BTW, I have no problems swearing in English because I was never conditioned against those swear words and they don't really feel 'bad' to me. So I really have to pay attention not to do it.
