We live in Mont. Cty. My DD would like to participate in swim/dive team this summer. Do these activities only happen at the beginning of summer? I've looked on a few pool websites and it seems that most clubs I'm finding are done by the middle of July. Is this typical or am I looking at the wrong clubs? I've been looking at MCSL. I'd like to find her something that starts in the middle of July and runs until the end of summer.
Thanks |
| Yes, that is the typical schedule. My kids compete in Prince Mont and the season seems to be similar to the other leagues. Generally they start as school ends and run through July. Most swimmers -- and swim families -- take August off. |
| Agree with PP, that is the schedule at our local pool. Swim team season is short. |
| All of the MCSL teams finish at the same time with all meets and All-Stars done by the end of July. You would also have to be members at the pool for your child to be eligible. |
Thanks. The pools I'm looking do not have wait lists. But she's at camp for the first half of the summer. There's no point in joining a pool if she can't participate in swim team when she gets back. As part of her day camp when she returns, she has recreational swim and instructional swim every day so I don't see us going to the pool after dinner. For the weekends if she wants to swim, it would probably be cheaper to buy a day pass to one of the county pools for the 6 weekends that she would be home this summer. |
| Most teams have seasons that run 6 weeks and start in June. If she's at camp in June, she's out of luck. |
That's too bad . I guess I'll look at RMSC for next fall.

| OP, I assume you mean your dd will be at sleep away camp? At my kids' sleep away camp, the swim team kids usually go second session so they can do swim team at home. If you mean day camp, most swim teams have practice times in the am but again in the late afternoon so kids who go to day camp can make the second practice of the day. |
