Mixing window types

Looking for some design advice here. We have double hung windows with grids throughout our house. Very traditional. We're adding a bump out eating area off the existing kitchen and considering using window panels without grids there. Will that look funny or is it okay to mix the styles like that?

It bothers me when I see that from the outside, but I am sure it would be lovely from the inside.
