Book recommendation after Matched, Crossed and Reached trilogy...

Anonymous
DD - 12 years old - who reads at the college level just finished the Matched Trilogy series. I would like to get her a new book for her Easter basket.
DD can read a book in a weekend so I can no longer keep up and pre-approve what she reads so I am not even familiar with what's out there in the young adult section.
The Matched series was recommended by her friend.
Divergent is what Amazon recommends if you like Matched. What do you think of that book for a 12 year old?
It seems like she like the romantic sci-fi story lines but can't do violence. (She thought Hunger Games was too scary.)
Please suggest a book...

TIA

Divergent is more action-y than love story - y- Have you tried The Giver series - also, this flowchart might help:

I think Divergent is fine for a 12 year old, but might be perceived as a little scary. It has awhile since I read it, but if I recall it was more psychologically "scary" (protagonist facing her worst fears), though there may have been some violence in the second book (I didn't read the third one). Definitely not as violent as Hunger Games.

It's older, but what about the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce? First one is called Alanna: The First Adventure. Maybe a little more fantasy than dystopian...

My knowledge is more old school, but id highly recommend Blue Sword and Hero and the Crown by robin McKinley. It's fantasy, not scifi, but has female protagonists and romance. She might also enjoy Sheri Tepper, but id review those first. The True Game series of books is fantastic. Her later work is also wonderful, but the themes are more adult. I'm thinking I was closer to 14 before I read those.

13:09 again. Here are some others that are popular (or have been popular in the past) with my students who seem to have similar taste to your daughter's:
Uglies/Pretties/Specials
The Maze Runner series (I haven't read)
City of Ember series
City of Bones series (I haven't read)

Thank you so much - I'll look through the suggestions and order through Amazon. I'll keep the others in mind for summer reading!

I like the flow chart - thanks!
