Help a newbie cover grey

Anonymous
I am not someone who has ever been good with doing my own hair. I can't even braid it myself. Here I am in my early 40s and I've got significant grey coming in. I've been getting a semi-permanent hair color done at the salon. I like the semi-permanent because I don't wind up with that demarcation line when it grows out. It is also less damaging to your hair. I want to try to do it myself. How do I choose the color? What brand should I use? Any other tips?

can you ask the stylist?

Its easy. Buy one at the drugstore. Go a shade or two lighter than you think you need. Yoiu basically pour the color into the encolsed bottle of developer, shake and apply. Leave it on for around 30 minutes and then rinse out. I use permanent color so cantg recommend.

I am newly-not grey and have had highlights and permanent color now three times. I wish I had started with semi-permanent. Can I start now? I hate the line of grey/brown that grows in after several weeks and wonder if i use semi-permanent if the line would be less distinct.

Use clairol natural instincts 28 day color. No ammonia so gentle to hair. Washes out gradually. I use it about every 3 weeks but wash my hair daily.

Does the natural instincts product result in a highlighted look at all, or one uniform color throughout?

Thanks, all. I will check out the natural instincts.

PP, with semi permanent the line is less because the color fades over time. The advantage is less line. The disadvantage is more grey.

I use Olio and even my stylist likes the results. I go a little lighter than my natural color.

Just buy more than you think you need because often it doesn't go as far as you think it will.
