Insanity v P90X for New Mom?

Anonymous
I am about to give birth to my first child, and I am already eager to start working out again to lose the extra pregnancy pounds. I have worked out my entire life, and I worked out pretty regularly during my pregnancy until about 34 weeks. Since then I haven't done much. =)

I'd like to start a home DVD workout program as soon as I can after I have the baby. Has anybody tried P90X or Insanity after having a baby? I'm leaning toward Insanity but I'd like any feedback I can get. Thanks!

I workout almost exclusively to DVDs. Have you looked into P90X3? P90X is a great program, but you will spend at least an hour each day working out (precious time that's hard to come by if you don't have help!). I'm loving P90X3, as the workouts are only 30 minutes, yet I feel really worked once I'm done. Plus, I appreciate the variety that I felt was somewhat lacking in P90X.

I didn't like Insanity at all. Too repetitive for my tastes.

I too think it would be tough in the first few months to commit to the time it takes to do p90x.

I like Jillian michaels book and a DVD set called the biggest winner and I may look into the p90x30.

I liked p90x but I did it with another mom who lived in my building which made it easier to stay motivated and slog through the workouts, which got repetitive. It totally works and we quit after 2 months because we couldn't maintain the heavy time commitment. I really liked Jillian Michaels Body Revolution because it is only 30 minutes a day and incorporates more cardio.

Both are great. I've done each separately and also as a hybrid . I'm now doing T25. Good luck!
