apartment buildings in whitman district?

Anonymous
my family will be moving to bethesda this summer and while we would like to buy a home in western bethesda eventually, we would like to rent for a year or two first to get to know the area. we plan to enroll our dc in public school and would prefer the whitman cluster. but it looks the only options for that would be house rentals? i see some nice apartment buildings in the downtown bethesda area, but nothing but large houses that would be zoned for whitman cluster schools. is this right or am i missing something?

Likely not..the Whitman district attains its status by not having any apartments.

Untrue. Check out the apartments on River Road, near the Giant/ Westbard shopping center. Mainly older folks & AU college kids. Many are condos & coops that rent out.

also some apartments/condos on MacArthur Blvd in cabin john, I think.

Agree with the Westbard/River Road suggestion. You may also be pleasantly surprised if you look for a rental house. Probably a smaller/older home, but you may find more space.

The Westbard/River Road apts feed into BCC not Whitman, though they are closer to Whitman. There might be some near Cabin John but I think those are just condos.

Not all of them. The building that is between the Westbard parking lot and the Westland parking lot is zoned for Wood Acres/Pyle/Whitman.

I'm pretty sure the westbard ones are Whitman, as are the westbard mews. River rd apts are BCC. There are also the Sumner Place apartments on Sangamore.

Painfully small at that price.
