Virginia SACC (school-age child care) --- for a kindergartner?

We are moving to the area and my oldest will begin kindergarten in the fall. We are looking primarily at being either within the Churchill or Colvin Run school districts. Any experience with their after-kindergarten program? Anyone with experience with their after-school program? I know to begin with that the waiting lists for after-care are huge. Beyond this, I am worried about the dynamic of so many kids K-6 lumped together, especially for the littler ones. Any insight into the programs is appreciated- Thank you!

I just started a thread today in the general parenting discussion about SACC. One of the posters said it was good for her kindergartner.
