Conservatives aren’t just fighting same-sex marriage. They’re also trying to stop divorce

"In cooperation with the Family Research Council and the National Organization for Marriage, socially conservative politicians have been quietly trying to make it harder for couples to get divorced."

With so many posters pushing people to hire a lawyer at the drop of a hat and get out of their troubled marriage I was wondering what thoughts are about the policies quietly being pushed in some states.

The right to Divorce is critical to all, but especially to a woman. Historically many cultures and religions haven't allowed it. A woman could trapped in a violent, abusive, drug addicted marriage and never be able to escape financially or legally. Total disaster. It's a right we must protect.

This is loon territory.

And are they pushing to enforce adultery laws?

I refer to these types as the "Christian Taliban." They clearly want to take us back several centuries.

They want to get rid of birth control, too.

+1000

Religious conservatives want this so they can convince women that they need religion to help them be better wives. It's all BS.

People should be allowed to divorce if they wanted to. Conservatives need to mind their own F***ing business.

Don't know but they would if it's the woman, not the man. Otherwise, they would get into trouble....

This is why I will never vote Republican. They are living in the far past.

They also believe in the death penalty but won't let you kill a kid up your vag, what's up with that?
Anonymous
Yeah, they want to drive US back to the 60s = 1860s.

We won't go.

If in doubt, vote.

Although I don't agree, I appreciate the consistency. Divorce kills way more traditional marriages than gay marriage does. In fact, gay marriage kills none.

Probably the ones who are voting for it are the ones cheating and want both an affair and marriage.

They do not believe in equal pay for women, either.

It's mixed for women. Great if women want to leave abusive marriages. But women who are left often do not recover financially.
