| I am looking for a good school near the Clinton/Brandywine area for my upcoming 4th Grader. Has anyone heard of Excellence Christian School? |
| none |
|
Maryland International Day
Beddow St. Peter's Those are the best in my opinion. |
| If public....lottery attempt at John Hanson French Immersion |
| Have you looked at Grace Brethren Christian in Clinton? |
|
I have a friend whose child attends Excellence. They love it. They like the cirriculum and the extra cirricular activities.
Are you looking at privat only? |
| My kids did pretty well at John Hanson Montessori in Oxon Hill. |
| My older son and daughter did well at John Hanson Montessori. My younger son has made some improvements but we realized that he needed a smaller class-size due to potential attention deficit. As with any school, it is best if you can be involved. Go on field-trips, volunteer in classroom, visit often and spontaneously. Excessive absences, and poor classroom management of some teachers are threats to the success if this otherwise good school. |
| OP here, thank you all for the responses. I am currently looking into Grace Brethren and Excellence. I will look into the others as summer break is QUICKLY approaching. |
| I was under the impression that you can only get into Montessori school if you start off there in Kindergarten. Is there a way to enroll in the larger grades too (ie 3rd or 4th grades) |
| Mattaponi has a wonderful principal and will be a Gateway TAG school. Most have never heard of it since it is in the "country". Right off of 301 in Upper Marlboro. |

| You can get accepted to the upper grades but you'd have to come in from a certified Montessori program like Henson Valley or Beddow. Hope this helps! |
I agree with the private schools named above Also for public lottery CMIT in Laurel and pay for the bus transport I would say John Hanson Montessori and the French Immersion and Spanish Immersion but for the issues with transfer in older grades if you haven't already been in a similar program For public there is still a class size issue though |

Just a comment on CMIT. IMO it is not the educational savior in PG that so many think it is. If your child is in one of their top classes, then your child will get the best CMIT has to offer. If not, be prepared for your child to have less than the best. Not every child is TAG, and not every child can be in the top classes. But all children should benefit from this "god-sent" education that CMIT is supposed to be providing. I believed the hype and enrolled my child there. I was none too impressed and pulled my child out a few months later. I am happier with the boundary school. It is not perfect, but it is better than CMIT.
