TOPS--cotton; thick etc

Anonymous
Why is it so hard to find cute cotton tops that are of thicker material that are also long and not boxy? I normally love JCrew, Anthropologie, BR etc but it's slim pickings out there. Where should I look? I also want something with sleeves. I am not a tank kind of person.

Op, I am looking for the same things! The hard part is finding ones long and not huge in the shoulder width.

I buy all of my t shirts from Land's End. They're thick and durable.

Do the Land's End ones hide a tummy pooch? I'm somewhat slim but carry a lot of weight on my belly (thanks, pregnancy) and basically look pregnant in most clothes. I'm not willing to wear shapewear on a daily basis.

How about beyond tshirt? Boden is cute but is it long? I dont like boxy nearly as much as I dont like thin material. I am tall and have a long torso.

Boden is a little longer, but they seem sheer. I bought 4 and I'm disappointed in the sheerness.

Chicos. Most of their stuff I wouldn't touch, but they have just the tops you are looking for.

No. That's not what I am looking for. Ugh. I meant "CUTE"

Lands End and Costco's Kirkland brand T's.

Cute tops drape well and thick material does not. I also have a tummy and suggest getting a different style of shirt, perhaps a pattern or a cotton shirting material meant to float away from the body a bit.

Focus on the undershirt instead. I wear a tank top under all shirts, even in the summer. It doesn't make much difference hate wise. Things lay nicer and if they are too thin you can wear nude color under and it's fine. I buy five or six white tanks from target each year just to wear under things.

Thick cotton tops are a bit dated looking these days and also matronly imho. However, I will also admit that some of the t-shirts in stores are way too flimsy! I don't usually like Loft, but I picked some nice ones up from there the other weekend.

I like something in between tissue paper thin and thick (like from Lands End). Eddie Bauer had nice long sleeved ones this winter but the short sleeved version seems thicker to me. I like something with a bit of stretch.

Maybe you should look before you say ugh. honestly, not all their stuff is hideous. but looks like you have your mind made up, even though I bet you haven't even been in a store to see if they actually do have exactly what you described.

The boden t-shirts are nice and thick, but run very large, definitely size down one or two sizes if you buy from there. And I actually agree with the PP that if you want a nice BASIC tee, like your classic white or black V or U neck shirts, the Chico's ones are good. There's also old navy, and Halogen from Nordstrom.
