This is just one of many examples that make me feel she is self centered. As a birthday gift, I offered to drive to her in another city and make dinner for her family. This was her response. It's just an all around icky feeling. |
Maybe she thought she was being cute/funny.
But if it is a regular/typical remark, then yes, it comes across as icky and self-centered. And gratitude certainly would have been nicer. |

Maybe a misfired attempt to be funny. It would depend on what she's generally like. But a more appreciative response would have been better/more gracious. |
I think she was saying that she likes your idea. I don't doubt that the person you are talking about may be self-centered, but this comment does not prove it. |
OP here. I'm going to go with the general thought that she's trying to be cute. She's been this way for as long as I've known her, 15 years. |
