Help! Need advice on powder/ foundation to use

Anonymous
Hello,

My skin is a mess. I use good cream ( I think), but something is wrong. I am now 35 and my skin has definitely changed a lot. I have combination/ oily skin. I generally have uneven/ redish tone. Found out last year too when I inquire about brown spots on my forehead and upper lip, that I have melasma.
Could you please share products you use in your daily routine ad well as make up that ei provide good coverage without making my problems worse. Used to use Proactive, which worked well for me. Going to renew my subscription ASaP. anything else? Thank you!

What are you using now and what are your specific concerns? Anything beyond the reddish tone and brown spots? I would suggest a glycolic acid wash in the morning to help even out skin tone, followed by sunscreen to prevent more brown spots. In the evening, use a mild cleanser (I use Avene Diacneal) followed by a retinoid and then moisturizer. That should help improve your skin tone. Your skin sounds a lot like mine and that routine has helped me a lot!

Bare Essentuals gives the best coverage ever.
I use the foundation, mineral veil and concealer.
The concealer will cover anything.
I use Cetaphil cleanser every day, a retinol cream (Roc is great) and Clarins Multi-day cream. 3-4 times per week I wash my face using my Clarsonic unit.
It has really improved my complexion.

Forget bare minerals. Jane iredale has amazing coverage and is easy on the skin. It also doesn't have a bunch of crap in it, like bare minerals. Check ewg skin deep database. I switched all of my makeup recently from bare minerals to Jane iredale and have received tons of compliments on my skin.

For a good coverage foundation, try Rimmel Stay Matte. It's a virtual dupe of Tarte's 12-hour BB primer (which is more of a foundation than a primer or BB), at 1/3 the price. I apply it with a beauty blender sponge and just on my t-zone. It covers so much that if you applied it all over your face, it might look mask-like. But on the t-zone, it lasts all day and controls oil very well.

1. You must use sunscreen. Sun will cause more hyperpigmentation issues.
2. I use Tarte Amazonian Clay. Another I've recently tried is Revlon Colory Stay Whipped - but finding the colors aren't that great for me.
3. Also heard MAC foundations have full coverage

There are LOTS of opinions out there. Hard to find what works for you b/c every skin is different.

I've used the website cosmeticscop.com. She sells her own stuff, but she also has a section where she reviews other brands. There is the "Best xxx" section. You can look at that too. Also, the site has huge sections on skin care, and what each type of skin care product will do (AHA, BHA, retinol, etc...) and also of skin conditions (melasma). I've got brown spots, too. I've tried Rx creams, and nothing seems to help that much, just a bit.

I posted this yesterday, but there's a correlation between birth control and melasma. I stopped bc, used more sunscreen and a year later mine is all gone.

I think mine is b/ of old age, heredity, and not using sunscreen when I was younger.

I recommend Neutrogena mineral sheers powder foundation. Light, doesn't bother my combination skin, and covers up imperfections and slight redness. MAC fx is also good.
