Are there Any Boundary Issue Meetings Scheduled in Ward 3?

Anonymous
Hi,

I looked at this site http://dme.dc.gov/book/student-assignment-and-school-boundaries-review-process/getting-involved-and-timeline

and notably do not see any boundary/re-districting public meeting scheduled anywhere in Ward 3. Am I missing something or are there no meetings or opportunities for us Ward 3 folks to voice our concerns about the DME proposals?

If there aren't any public meetings scheduled in Ward 3 there should be and people should start lobbying for them by emailing Mary Cheh and the DME tara.lynch@dc.gov

The meeting tonight is for folks in Upper NW and NE. You should come to that one.

You are correct, there are no meetings scheduled for west of the park. Given the DME's apparent focus dismantling neighborhood schools, this does not surprise me.
I plan on attending tonight's meeting at Coolidge. There's another one at Coolidge on Thursday the 24th if you can't make it tonight.

You can also attend your ANC meetings to raise concerns... ANC 3E's meeting is this Thursday at 7:30.

ANC 3F just posted this on the Tenleytown listserve:
Please join ANC 3F commissioners for an information session and discussion of the ongoing DC Student Assignment and School Boundaries Review process. The goal of the meeting will be to provide clear information about what has been proposed, explain what the balance of the process will entail, and hear from the community about any concerns, questions or views that may exist regarding what the Advisory Committee has put forward so far.
The meeting will take place at the Methodist Home at 4901 Connecticut Ave NW from 5:30-7:30pm on Thursday, April 10.

For ANC 3G, the next meeting is Monday the 14th, 7:30 at the Chevy Chase Community Center.

"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:

Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

The meetings tonight and on the 24th are not in W3 but are for W3 and other parts of NW and upper NE. Anyone can go to any meeting.

Rock Creek Park is not radioactive. Get on the Metro or schlep on over to Coolidge tonight. See how the other half lives (for once).

I live on New Mexico (Cathedral Heights) , enrolled into the DCPS website and got assigned to the City Center working group (not Upper NW). I am neverthless attending all meetings.

Thanks for the responses but I for one find it completely absurd and offensive that there are no meetings scheduled IN WARD 3 since we are most deeply affected by the proposals depriving us of the long standing guaranteed path to Wilson HS. Other Ward 3 ers please email the deputy mayor office and insist on a meeting IN WARD 3 in the near future.

Memo to Ward 3 Parents from DCM:

Pay your taxes up and shut up!
And if you don't like it, then go to private school and pay some more.

I wrote to Cheh yesterday, did not get a response, which is odd as I always receive feedback from her staff.
I guess they are still undecided on how to approach the issue. One reason more to write to her.

I come 3 times a week from Ward 3 to enjoy the Takoma pool and the tennis courts, and go to church, do not worry I am not scared.

If there was one scheduled in W3, I am sure there would be all kinds of huffing about how W3 always gets everything. Even the meetings are W3!

Grow up people and focus on the real issues.
