How many bids do you usually do for painting, or general contract work? Deciding factors outside of

| Depends how big the project is. On painting we have a painter we like and we just go with it even if it costs a little more. On more involved projects like a bathroom reno we typically try for 3 bids. |

| If I have a recommendation from someone I trust I might only get one bid. If I don't I try to find 3-4 to call and often one flakes out. |

| I aim for 3. Sometimes I'll go with 2 if I have a pretty good idea of what something should cost and the bids come in around that. |
