Non-owner auto insurance

Anonymous
I do not own a car, but am looking for extra insurance to cover my use of Zip cars, Car2Go and other rentals. Anyone have any experience with this type of insurance? If so, what is your rate and with which provider?

I thought each of those companies have insurance that covers the drivers.

As I said, I'm seeking extra insurance beyond the minimum offered for liability.

Do you pay for the Zip cars with a credit card? Check with the credit card company to see if they offer any additional insurance automatically.

OP here, that just covers collision. I'm interested in extra liability insurance. I appreciate the feedback, but I'm looking for those that have experience with non-owner auto insurance. I know Travelers offers this product.

My former boss had auto insurance, even though she had no car. I think she got it from the same agent as her homeowners/renters insurance. If you bundle the policies, you'd likely get a discount on one - or both - of them.

I have a non-owner's with Geico and pay $440/year (27 year old male). Substantial liability coverage (300,000/300,000 I believe).

Buy umbrella insurance. Far cheaper for more coverage

You can't buy umbrella insurance unless you have auto insurance.

Thank you all for your input. PP is correct-- umbrella won't help me out here. My husband and I were able to receive non-owner auto insurance through Travelers.

USAA touring policy - it's like $20/year for any car that you don't own. We love it!
