looking for excellent DC pediatrician open to delayed / reduced vaccine schedules - recommendations?

Hello all,

I am beginning to search for a pediatrician for my child, expected to make his or her debut in late spring. I am looking for a recommendation for a pediatrician in the area who has a great bedside manner, is highly skilled, and is comfortable with a delayed and selectively reduced (taking away some vaccinations like chicken pox, for instance) vaccination schedule. We have read several books on the subject (most helpful was The Vaccine book by Dr. Sears) and, while we are not anti-vaccine, are convinced that it is best to spread out the recommended schedule to limit our child's exposure to more than one vaccine at a time.

I have searched through the archives and have not been able to find any answers -- sorry if I missed something elsewhere -- would appreciate it if anyone might have some experience to share.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I know that Capitol Medical Group, Connecticut Ave, in Chevy Chase (Md) is open to some delayed schedules. At least we delayed / spread out the MMR vaccines and they are completely comfortable with that. The doctors I have met there are all nice but I particularly like Dr. Finkelstein, Dr. Snow and Dr.Pearl.

Thank you. We are just beginning to research vaccinations, but it was my understanding that the MMR vaccine could not be broken up, or at least, there is no separate "measles" vaccination. Of those three illnesses, measles seems to be the most serious in childhood and therefore the one we would least want to skip. But like so many other vaccines, it seems that if you want protection from one, you've got to accept everything else they've bundled it with. I'd really appreciate knowing how you spaced these out so I can consider doing the same. Thanks so much!
